Reality - it's magic!

Of all the creatures on the Earth, humans are the craziest; and with good cause too! The ability to be aware of being aware throws up a lot more issues in the human psyche than we would think possible. Primary in this is our ability to predict or plan ahead, now, you may consider this to be a bonus; however, it is a two edged sword.

Today's topic is complex, so if you don't like complex you may leave now whilst the rest of us get comfy. You'll need to be comfy because there are things about reality that need to be said; in relation to your day to day life and your pursuit of magic.

The creatures of planet Earth are, on the whole and with some exceptions, reactively driven; that is, they react to what is happening in the moment without 'a priori' evidence that something will happen. They are the best Daoists around, because they only have to 'be in the moment'.

As was said previously, humans are different; we plan, scheme, enter into allegiances, without any of it happening right now or having the chance to happen right now. We book our holidays a year in advance and then dream about it every day on the belief we are going to get there. This is an action we apply to hundreds of things daily, predicting the outcome of our reality line. Every human being on the face of the Earth does it, it is in our nature.

The truth is, there is no 'future'; the expected moments in front of you are just a chaotic pattern of possibility ranging out from each moment you experience, the closest being the greatest possibility of occurring way out to the 'not a snowflakes chance in hell' variety. Chaos is the ocean we swim in moment to moment, and we are masters of manipulating it.

A good magical practitioner is someone who fully understands this self evident truth and uses it accordingly to control their next moment. A very good practitioner knows how to reach out to the 'snowflakes chance in hell' and make THAT the next moment; now that IS magic.

Let us look at the two basic forms of magic; sympathetic and high ritual, as they both use the above to create this effect, even subconsciously.

Sympathetic magic and sorcery - 'Sorcery' is derived from the Latin 'sortiarius' which roughly means 'one who influences fate'; an appropriate description here. Within the bounds of sympathetic magic is the understanding that by creating a 'link' with a person or object one can influence it's actions. There is a more modern term for this called Harmonic Resonance which we will discuss later.

So, let's say I want to influence my boss, therefore I need to create a sympathetic link; perhaps a lock of hair, a photograph or personal item. Once I have them I believe that through connecting with them my Will will be done, so I do my ritual and send out 'Boss, I need a raise and you are going to give me more money' - is that correct? Nope!!!

Just because you have something that belongs to someone doesn't mean you can go do what you like UNLESS you create a resonance with the way they perceive reality. In your bosses case that means you have to understand what your boss looks for in a good employee, their strengths, and use that. Back to the drawing board!

Look around at the people your boss employs above you, what are their qualities? Synthesise the whole thing down into the ideal employee for that boss. You may not like the result but hey... you want the job don't you?

Now superimpose that ideal upon yourself, an assumption, if you like, of a power form; and project that at your boss. It's guaranteed to get you the job, trust me, I know.

You want the guy/gal down the street to love you? Same rule. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, hell, only you decided your moral values and if you are prepared to do this then I can't stop you. However, I can tell you how to do it so it works.

The devil is in the detail, so the saying goes; and in magic that has never been a truer statement of fact. Your attention to detail, the way your work is proscribed, defines its outcome. Any questions - call me.

High Ritual Magic(k) - it is often believed that we high ritual magicians look down upon witchery as a simplistic form of magic. That may be true for some whose supposedly lofty status has had an effect upon their ego; however, magic is magic and in all its forms it is power. Power to alter the outcome of the next moment.

High Ritual magicians still use sympathetic magic, but it is disguised; disguised within a term called 'correspondence'. Now we are not talking here about emails, oh no, correspondences are sympathetic relationships ramped up to god-like status and in harmony with cosmic values. If you want to know what correspondences are go download/buy Crowleys 'Liber777 - the book of lists'; it is THE definitive book on magical harmonics and has never been bettered. Used by good and bad alike it is the crown jewels of the high ritual magician; based upon the 'tree of life' it defines the relationship of all things to each other.

A high ritual magician would not only use the above information of the sympathetic practitioner, but would calculate the best day and time for that ritual; and then would create the 'working space' based upon the right colours, incense, angels and spirits and god/goddess before rewriting and condensing the desire into a formula whose magical number matched the correspondence.

Whatever! I hear you shout, that's just anal; well, it's more than that because it is 'lethal' in that it sets up a harmonic resonance so strong it can break the Will of wherever it is directed if done right. Bear in mind too, that ritual magicians don't comply with the '3-fold Law of Return'; they know that to be just another way to control the masses. Yes, every action has a reaction; but any competent practitioner of either style knows how to deflect that scenario.

Harmonic resonance - the ability to mimic the vibrational rate of an object in order to cause that object to respond without direct contact.

Take two tuning forks in the same 'key', say middle 'C'; place one upright on the table and walk away. Take the second tuning fork and strike it; the first one will begin to sound off too - harmonic resonance.

I love resonance, adore it; because it is ignored by almost everyone and is therefore still 'occult' (hidden). In its simplicity is great power, power that is being recognised in the world of science and applications within our home. You can buy speakers now that are nothing like what you knew. These things slap up against an object and through resonance turn that object into a loud speaker. Walls, glass and even car fascias are being used. Resonance is being used on road side equipment to cut down the sound by setting up an opposite resonant field. So we are not talking 'airy-fairy' here, this is now science.

Once I met a Qi Gong master who claimed he could put his hand slowly through a wooden table by getting his hand to mimic the resonance of the table. I didn't believe him, along with many others; so he did it in front of us, amazing to watch.

Whatever way you choose to express the magic in your life, the understanding of resonance either through 'sympathy' or 'correspondence' is the true test of you power.

Use it wisely.

Harmonic resonance can be used in many other ways within our practices, an understanding of it can enhance our lives and our work.

As an example, Citrine and Amethyst are the same; except Citrine has undergone a baptism of heat that renders it the way it is. When we heat something up we change its vibrational rate, so we can argue that Citrine is a 'higher' form of Amethyst. Therefore, if you are using Amethyst in rituals you may want to consider the higher properties that come from using Citrine; the same correspondence but a higher harmonic.

Learn to use your magical correspondences to produce 'chords' in the same way a musician would, blending the harmonies to produce great pieces of work.
