Walking a path magical part 2 - the God & Goddess

In part 1 we looked at our burgeoning magician and what was needed to ‘kick start’ that magical connection into gear. Concepts of ego and archetypal influences must be well founded before this next area, the manifestation of the God and Goddess.

When spirit takes on human form (spirit-being-human) a situation is created in which the spirit must fragment itself. The reason for this is that spirit has no sexual alignment of its own, it simply assumes one. However, the human body is, in essence, incomplete because humans are polarised into male-female; just like other mammals.

Now, before any pc brigade suddenly launches at this point let me say that this has nothing to do with sexual orientation; it is only about the physical attributes you’re born with. This stuff still works if you’re homosexual, lesbian, bisexual, androgynous or hermaphrodite. Don’t shoot the messenger :)

Back to point, spirit has a problem in that each sex contains within it a complete version of itself in the opposite sex; these are called the anima and animus and they reside in the subconscious mind. Spirit divides itself to accommodate the two personalities, one conscious and one subconscious and of the opposite sexual polarity. Here’s an important piece… the subconscious identity has complete access to its spiritual core identity; it knows who it is.

Whereas, the conscious spirit fragment is confined by the spirit rule of no conscious recall and can only function in the timeline it is in. Really read that bit folks and understand it. This means that your ‘higher self’ is one and the same as your anima or animus. Now go back and read it again. Let’s pause there as talk about the God & Goddess. For the sake of brevity we will refer to them as the ‘Godform’ and depending on your sexual arrangement you can choose if it is the god or goddess that we are talking about. If you were the opposite sex to how you are now, what would you be like? This is a critical question in forming the Godform so be honest.

Now think of the most perfect expression of that identity, the perfect man or woman because that is your goal. Through ritual (repetition) you are going to transform your anima-animus into the perfect opposite of your self. It takes time, that why it’s a ritual of reputation, to drum into your skull what this heavenly creature will be like. Be careful what you ask for, you might get it!

Okay, so you’ve been away from her for a few months and you are positively drooling with the prospect of meeting your perfect self; who wouldn’t be. Some of you will have already succumbed to engaging in acts of lasciviousness with this entity, and of course, you were asleep at the time. Its ok, sex like that is spirits way of bonding back to itself and it helps make the connection stronger, and you won’t go blind.

Now we need a Godform personality like Isis, Hecate, Zeus, Horus or any of the myriad god and goddess forms out there. Now, it’s no good you going ‘well I like the sound of that’; bad! You must find one that feels right, resonates with you and one you can understand the qualities of. So if you pick Zeus remember he’s a womaniser and you can’t pick and mix; it’s not a candy shop. Great, you have a Godform you resonate with. Now you are going to take all the qualities of that Godform and add them to your beautiful alter-self, make them in the likeness of your Godform. Ritual repetition again, see you in a while :)

So, some of you are ready for the next bit. You have by now developed you anima-animus into your relevant Godform, and you are so besotted you’ve given up work just to be with yourself. Good! As a solitary witch you are now in a position of being able, through meditation etc, to communicate with your other half quite easily. You may find that they come over as a bit smarter than you are; that’s because they are, remember, they are connected to your subconscious mind and on to spirit. So be respectful but don’t let them take over, because that’s the road to the shiny white room.

Because you have incorporated the archetypal pattern of the Godform into yourself, that form is to all intents and purposes a god or goddess, and they grant you the power to do other things. The first of which is ‘naming’; naming everything from your working tools (if you use them) to the things that will be your guides or helpers.

Naming opens you up, to your higher self (which is now a Godform) and the rest of creation. Now, sensible practitioners don’t go off claiming half the world’s wildlife as their guides etc. Start with one, get to know it and get it to know you. See how it works with you because you might only need one. Different guides deal with different issues, so be selective.

Let’s talk now to those of you with a magical partner. You may work in a coven or just the two of you in cosy splendour. A word of warning, if you create the Godform in you so must your partner, or the imbalance of power will split you up. Godforms, like movie stars, don’t go out with Joe Public, they stick to their own. Don’t believe then go try it, but don’t blame me afterwards. It’s easier to do all this bit when you’re single, then you go find the Godform that rings your bell. Now we all know there is a ritual of calling down of the god and goddess, no big secret anymore. Except is a misnomer because you are not calling anything down, you are calling it forth.

Words have power, remember! You and your partner are duly trained and both have Godforms that are compatible with each other and your there in your circle and he’s on his knees and what is his job? His role in this is to call forth the Goddess within himself and by transference imbue the lady patiently standing there with all those qualities.

She will become his other half, the super being of Godform and anima; the most desirable creature in existence. He will call her forth with a passion and determination only ever seen by a woman on a birthing table! If he doesn’t then his good lady has to fake it and she will feel let down. Now women are so much better at this thankfully, so when it’s her turn she will raise up, call forth and hammer into his innocent befuddle self the pattern of her God. Glory!

Am I making light of this, I apologise; for me personally there is no greater act of love than that between two witches in the calling forth of their Godforms. Many times I have been reduced to tears just as an observer when it is done right. Sadly, many more times I have watched a half assed mumbling of something towards a half listening someone. That is not a celebration of the god and goddess.

Also bear in mind that, like the previous things, this needs practice to get it perfect and that practice is ritual. People take about raising the power in a circle, through chant and drumming and whatever; and I tell you now that if this is done right it is all you need because it is the love of spirit in it most glorious manifestation.

A word of warning, again, because this type of power raising is addictive and between partners is perfect. But the coven becomes addicted to and it can cause conflict between alpha males and females. Everyone wants some, basically.

At this point we have concluded the basics of calling forth the god and goddess, no easy task and something to work upon. Yet there is no greater prize, and the power just from that manifestation can be used to heal or whatever you have set up.
